Tent safari through the amazing nature and wilderness of Zimbabwe and Botswana. We start with a night in Johannesburg before packing our luggage into the custom-built vehicle and heading off. A unique trip where we get to experience some of south Africa’s most exciting and famous national parks such as Kruger, hwange, chobe and the okavango delta. In addition, we also visit the mighty Victoria falls and the historic great Zimbabwe – all in one trip.
Everything is still. We are sitting in a boat on the chobe river. In the glow of the evening sun, hundreds of elephants come down to the beach to drink. The females watch over their playful cubs who frolic and splash water as they bathe among hippos and crocodiles. Gradually, antelopes, giraffes and zebras also appear, while sea eagles are heard calling from a palm tree.
Our safaris in Zimbabwe and Botswana are exempt from mass tourism. We travel in small groups of a maximum of twelve people. From Johannesburg, we move on to the Kruger park, where we immediately start with a couple of days of big game safari. Here we have the opportunity to see the big five in one of the world’s most famous national parks. During the trip, we visit several fantastical places. Not least the okavango delta where there are plenty of crocodiles and hippos in the labyrinth of canals and papyrus reeds. The okavango is the world’s largest inland delta with water so crystal clear you’d want to drink it.
The mighty victoria falls our journey takes us to the mighty victoria falls, where the zambezi river falls over a hundred meters along a kilometre-long wall. It roars like thunder, foams, and the mist from the falls can be seen for miles. The falls are most impressive from may to september, then the amount of water decreases.
On to chobeparken, as big as uppland. We meet buffalo, wildebeest, impala and kudu antelope. There are lions here and our experienced guide usually also finds the rare wild dog and cheetah. Chobe is home to some of the world’s largest herds of elephants – it’s amazing to sit in a boat on the river and watch herds of elephants come down to the shore to cool off the dust and quench their thirst at sunset. We eat dinner by the fire with the starry sky above us. Hyenas, lions and elephants can be heard all around – you can’t get any closer to nature.
